The Arrival – Hyatt Regency Sydney

On the western (city) side of Darling Harbour, Sailmaker at the Hyatt Regency Sydney overlooks the water, with a light and airy atmosphere. The Hyatt Regency is the largest premium hotel in Sydney and many rooms enjoy spectacular sunset views towards the faraway Blue Mountains. Sailmaker is a relaxing and light environment, with a big table set up for younger kids to do Nutella and Easter-related art activities while at the tea.
Sailmaker – Nutella-Lovers Family High-Tea
Certain to drive an Easter bunny wild, the menu includes several Nutella-inspired delights by Executive Head Chef Sven Ullrich. It’s a chocolate spectacular, from Nutella pot de crème and Nutella and B-Ready cheesecake to a Nutella flexi ganache, Nutella and caramel brownies and Nutella dipped strawberries. There are also dark chocolate and orange scones – and if you’re still craving even more chocolate, you can add Nutella to them.
Thankfully/disappointingly, depending on your view, Nutella hasn’t made its way over to the exquisite savoury creations, although there’s an Avocado with pickled petit vegetables and rosepetals which rests on “chocolate soil” – this was a curious one, quite sweet. Native Australian ingredients are woven through the collection – there’s a Torched creamy brie with fig and lemon aspen – the star of the show for us, the lemon aspen was a fabulous pairing with the brie – and a Lobster, tobiko, finger lime choux. A Rabbit terrine features rockmelon, parmesan snow and quandong in a tiny crispy shell, and pepperberry zings up a Pork taco with mango. A very fat, juicy Scallop is sprinked with charred sweetcorn and wattleseed crumb, while a Spinach and porcini arancini is infused with salt bush. And if you’ve always wondered what muntries were – here’s your chance: the Mini beef wellington is adorned with muntries relish. It’s like a sweet, spicy apple flavour.
If that’s too exotic for the kids, no problem! Little ones can enjoy a savoury kids’ buffer with mini pizza, beef pies, chicken nuggets, fish fingers, chips and corn-on-the-cob. And while adults can wash down the Nutella extravagance with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine (or a cup of tea), youngsters can enjoy mocktails – a crispy fruity pineapple concoction or a silky velvety Nutella iced chocolate – juices and hot chocolate.
