After four-plus years on Burton Street, Outré has outgrown its shoes and moved a few blocks over to a new gallery on Crown Street. Step into the two level showcase shop and you’ll find an unpredictable and spectacular medley of contemporary pop art; international pop, lowbrow, pop surrealism, street, tiki, modern folk, retro with a twist and underground art.
Director Martin McIntosh wanted to show more people their diverse contemporary pop art. Works from all over the world, including Angelique Houtkamp, Beci Orpin, Fawn Gehweiler, Glenn Barr, Shepard Fairey and kozyndan.
Outré specialise in exhibitions where you get a chance to meet the artist (these typically have a cult following). So you can expect feature shows four or five times a year where the gallery is devoted to just one artist.
On Friday 20 August Shag (a.k.a Josh Agle) opens Outré’s inaugural feature show. A chance for you to mingle with other affordable art buyers and avid art collectors. If you want to get up close and personal with Josh, don’t miss the book signing the day after (21 August).
Get into Outré for your pop and counter culture art.
