The master of macabre, Tim Burton is finally being paid homage with a unique exhibition at ACMI direct from MOMA.
This exhibition showcases the creative journey Burton has taken from animator, producer and director of some of the most iconic and creative films of our time. His films bear a signature including gothic fantasy themes, extreme costumes and of course one if not two of his favourite muses, Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp.
Being the creative producer that he is, this exhibition was curated in direct collaboration with Burton and brings over 700 works of his including paintings, drawings, puppets, costumes, storyboards and films.
To compliment the exhibition, ACMI are also putting on a variety of talks, screenings and events to show you the many sides to his work. Tickets to the Tim Burton film retrospective are held alongside the exhibition and are only $6 (excluding opening night) and feature all of his films; including Pee-wee’s big adventure, Edward Scissorhands, Big Fish, Ed Wood, Planet of the Apes, Batman, Batman returns, James & the Giant peach, Beetlejuice, Sleepy Hollow, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Sweeney Todd and of course Alice in Wonderland.
