Sustainable Fashion
Think you could wear the same dress for 365 consecutive days? New York eco fashionista and philanthropist Sheena Matheiken is almost there, having launched The Uniform Project (U.P.) in May 2009, where she pledged to wear one little black dress for one year to raise funds for the education of underprivileged children living in Indian slums.
$60,000 raised so far, for the Akanksha Foundation, Sheena is now auctioning off the 200 one-of-a-kind vintage, designer and sustainable accessories that helped reinvent her daily look through a charity auction on eBay, with 100% of the proceeds to benefit the Foundation in India.
You can now get inspired by her creativity, and purchase the accessories from international designers and well-wishers, including three limited edition releases of the U.P.’s iconic little black dress designed by U.P. co-founder Eliza Starbuck.
Whilst you may not be moved to wear her pants around your head, there’s hats, belts, necklaces, scarves, capes, head wraps, corsets, collars, bracelets, skirts, gloves, sweaters, shoes and much more to choose from.
