New Sydney chocolate destination
Think chandeliers, dark wood and old-world apothecary charm, all wrapped up in a chocolate box bow and you’re halfway there.
Given the fact that co-owner Lindsay Jones-Evans’ other major project is The Victoria Room, it isn’t surprising that this bijou chocolate destination, tucked inside The Strand Arcade, oozes such antique chic.
The charming salon features the work of local artisans (including a wrought iron worker who used to weld Saddam Hussein’s tanks!), alongside Italian mosaic, and of course the best chocolate from around the world.
Lindsay, founder of Jones The Grocer and business partner Andrew Yasemiedies have dreamt up space that transforms customers not just to Europe, but several hundred years into the past, with a bonafide vintage feel showcasing Andrew’s crafty couverture ways.
Together, the pair have sourced a growing range of fine chocolates, both imported from France and Belgium, as well as created right here in the lucky country.
We hear their cacao-dusted nuts (macadamias, almonds and hazelnuts) are flying off the shelves and there are also plans for a chocolate café, down the marble stairs, in the basement.
While we love Westfield’s high-tech, high-end digs just up the pedestrian mall, The Strand’s evolution to in luxe shopping and dining experiences like La Rosa, Aesop and now Bon Fine Chocolates is proof that style is always in fashion.
