We envy those people who know how to work an op shop and come out a winner. It’s no easy feat seeing past all the Nanna lace and beyond that musty smell to nab the bargain, not to mention the unique find of a lifetime. We take off our ordinary chain store hats to vintage shoppers. But we’re not calling it quits yet; we have a good feeling about Salvos Street Boutique.
The Darlinghurst Salvos Store, which is now also home to the Salvos first ever Salvos Street Boutique is where you need to go. The interior is cool and clever, staying true to the store’s heart by using second hand fixtures including its wooden palette feature wall. And the clothes? They’ve been curated by eco stylist and TV fashion commentator Faye De Lanty. Expect to find a mix of on trend pieces amongst classic, timeless finds. You can’t go wrong – a stylist has already hand picked what you see, after all.
But it’s not all about us and filling our wardrobes with fabulous things. Let’s not forget the great work the Salvos do. Salvos Stores are saviours for struggling people and families and have been for over 125 years. That is a truly commendable achievement. Their collections of donated pre-loved and recycled furniture, clothing and goods are a mecca for bargain hunters but the good news doesn’t stop there. The profits from everything you buy in-store helps fund the Salvation Army’s programs. Plus goods that have been donated are also distributed free of charge to those in need through The Salvation Army’s network. It’s win, win and win!
Do your bit and find a bargain in the process. It’s the right thing to do.
