Omnivore World Tour

If you love to cook food almost as much as you love to eat it, then get yourself to one of the masterclasses at the Omnivore World Tour festival. Your favourite chefs, including Nathan Sasi from Nomad and Carla Jones from 4Fourteen are sharing their know-how during exclusive demonstrations. Celebrating young cuisine, this food festival is on from today (Thursday October 2) until Sunday October 5, and includes a list of cooking classes, a pop up dinner and, are you ready, a Badoit Water Master Class that instead of showing you how to match wines with your food, you’ll learn what waters match different dishes. Yes, there’s more to water than still or sparkling.

Hermes Festival des Metiers

Keen for something a little different? Between all your wining and dining, why not explore a unique exhibition if ever there was one. Opening today, luxe French designer label, Hermès Australia has launched a public exhibition, Festival des Métiers where entry is free. The exhibit showcases eight Hermès craftsmen working just as they would in the Hermès workshops in France. See a famous Hermès silk scarf be printed before your very eyes. A cool mix of fashion and fabulous French culture.

Ruby’s BBQ Bash

What better way to enjoy the sunshine (oh please let there be sunshine!) than with a good ol’ fashioned barbie. IconPark’s season two residents, Rupert and Ruby’s are holding a one-day-only event. They’re putting Chief BBQ Extraordinaire Eli Challenger behind the barbecue to cook up some seriously delicious grub. For just $20 you will get a platter of 16-hour slow smoked brisket, Carolina pulled pork, Kentucky fried chicken and sides. Manly Wine is Back in Business

If kicking back sea-side with a cocktail in hand is how you want to spend your long weekend, sit your butt down and settle in for a long lunch at Manly Wine. It’s been made over and is re-opening its newly refurbished doors just in time for the long weekend. New fancy features include rosé spritzer on tap, an all-day raw seafood bar and a vast menu from small dishes to sandwiches, snacks and sides, desserts and cheese and hearty lunch and dinner options to please every appetite. The Clock’s Pop-up Italian Bar

For the long weekend only, you’ll find a little slice of Italian heaven at The Clock’s pop-up bar, The Clock Salumeria. It’s simple really, feast on mixed boards of meats and cheeses and drinks lots of Italian red, white and sparkling wines such as NV La Tordera ‘Alne’ Prosecco, 2012 Monteporzio Frascati and 2011 Castellani Chianti DOCG. All while chilling on the Balcony Bar. Boards are priced at $20 for two meats and one cheese and $30 for four meats and three cheeses, with olives available for $10. Bellisimo!

Watson’s Bay Cider Festival

This year Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel are bringing out the cider by the bucket loads. Their Cider Festival is a three day event that kicks off on Saturday and has everything from bobbing for apples to a cider tasting trail. It’s a fun day for the whole family.
