Nothing warms your cockles quite like a good roast. And the foodie folk behind Melbourne Food and Wine Festival are ensuring you needn’t wait for a Sunday to indulge in one – they’re hosting roast-inspired events all through June.
Relieving the affront of winter’s onset, The Roast Collection celebrates the much-loved roast at a range of epicurean events; from roast of the day at Grossi Florentino, to a degustation dinner at The Woolshed Pub.
As part of the ‘Put Victoria on Your Table’ initiative, the delicious dinner events support local producers and minimises food miles – so there’s no need to feel guilty as you devour forkfuls of suckling Otway pig.
Featuring prominently at Roast Collection events is Melbourne’s beverage du jour: cider. Compare apples and pears at Campari House’s ‘She’ll be Apples!’ event, or roast pork and porter at Collins Quarter’s ‘Pig and a Pot’.
For the more adventurous roast enthusiast, rug up, hit the road and visit regional Victoria. Roast events in Beechworth, Heathcote and Waygunah provide the perfect excuse to savour Victoria’s finest produce and beautiful scenery.
So this month, leave your oven off. You won’t be needing it.
