You’ve heard of powdered foundation, powder shadows and powder blushes. Even powdered milk and proteins. But powdered tea?
Don’t worry, this isn’t the advent of a loose leaf dystopia. This is Matchageddon – a three-day festival heralding the superhero of teas.
Matcha is to green smoothies what Michelin-starred sushi is to the California roll. It’s rich in fibre, in antioxidants, and in history – the tea used in the Japanese tea ceremony ‘Chanoyu’, or ‘Way of the Tea’.
For Matchageddon, Melbourne’s boutique tea brewery Storm in a Teacup will be pairing the venerable cuppa with matcha-infused sencha, sweet matcha juice, matcha cocktails, street art and teachings by a samurai tea punk.
No, that wasn’t the intoxicating fumes messing with your mind – cutting edge tea artist Adam Wojcinski will be imparting his guiding ways to nourish your heart, mind and soul. If Kill Bill made you reconsider your samurai aspirations, Wojcinski will make you a master in no time.
Hold the Royal Albert china – this ain’t no pompous tea party. It’s a powder room, but not as you know it.
