What’s a bar these days if you can’t walk in, order a beer, and get a short back and sides while you wait? Booze and haircuts: like honey to the bee, right? Well, not quite. But nevertheless, we’ve found a cool joint busting out both. Not surprisingly, it goes by the name of The Barber Shop and is courtesy of ex-Merivale head booze dude, Mike Enright.
Dim lights, a big ol’ bar and plenty of quality liquor are what you’ll find at York Street’s newest watering hole. Expect a large room with plenty of character, and a banging outdoor area that’ll have you parked for the night.
Now let’s get down to business, what liquid goodness is on offer? Aussie beers make an appearance, the wines are a mixed bag of home-grown and international labels, and there’s a solid cocktail list to boot. Did we mention they have gin on tap?
Fellas, if you’re looking for a shave and haircut, stride in, take a seat in one of the old school barber chairs and be indulged. It’ll set you back 75 big ones though.
Sideburn trim or not, The Barber Shop should be high on your list of ‘must visits’.
