Just when you thought The Cullen Hotel couldn’t get any cooler, the doors swing open on Maison Tsumiki, a new salon from Taka and Linda Taka Nishimura.
Combining a Japanese love for seasonal perfection with an effortless Parisian aesthetic, the salon features pale turquoise lacquered hair stations against a clean black and white palette of walls, mirrors and an ultra-luxe hair spa.
Feeling like you need to straighten out? The salon offers Yuki Japanese hair straightening that locks in moisture and nutrients during the heating process. On the upside, this treatment is 100% formaldehyde-free so you won’t walk out smelling like a lab rat. The process takes roughly between 3 – 5 hours, as you will be alternately shampooed, your hair heated, blown out and then flat ironed. The result is beautifully retexturised hair – silky and smooth.
Maison Tsumiki is one of only four salons in Victoria with exclusive rights to the Shu Uemura Art of Hair brand in Victoria and the only salon that stocks the retail line. Unfamiliar with Shu Uemura? He’s Japan’s beauty maestro. In 1958, he set out to revolutionise beauty and more than 50 years since his debut in Tokyo, Shu Uemura’s hair product range is ranked amongst the best products in the world.
