If Brown Sugar rings a bell – and with that bell comes salivation – then listen up. The brother sister duo behind Bondi’s famed brekkie haunt have opened their second digs just around the corner.
With a name that’s hard to remember, and hard to forget, Lox Stock and Barrel is a New York inspired deli/diner ready to please the carb-loving masses with bagels, bagels and more bagels. All kinds – plain, sesame, poppy, seed and spices, onion – boiled and baked on the premises daily. If you’re not the bagel type, don’t stress, they have a heap of other tasty morsels including an array of knockout salads and sweet treats that’ll have you coming back for more.
Go for brekkie and do a number on yourself with brioche French toast, caramelised apples, cinnamon and ice-cream. Or if savoury is more your style, go for the ‘Lock and Load’ that fires a solid hash brown your way with smoked lox (aka salmon), lime and crème fresh dill dressing.
When night falls, things get a bit more serious with dishes like duck liver parfait with spiced fig jam and watercress salad, and mandarin glazed duck with thai basil, sugar snaps and ginger. It’d be criminal not to mention the warm chocolate almond fudge cake with honeycomb and ice-cream. There’s a punchy selection of wine, beer and cocktails too.
Make note of the name and remember it. You’ll be saying Lox Stock and Barrel again soon.
