A Turkish policeman walked into an alleyway and what did he see? Potential.
La Lupita’s founder, Attila Yilmaz, used to walk the back streets of Sydney fighting crime but these days he’s more about dishing out tacos al carbon (cooked on charcoal) than protecting and serving.
Cult pop-up Mexican taquería, La Lupita, has now moved from its quirky warehouse venue out in Canterbury into the The Basement, Sydney.
With the best tacos in town as well as dreamily authentic items like corn-on-the-cob with cream, parmesan and chilli lime salt, frijoles charros (cowboy beans) and spit roast hot chipotle wings, La Lupita’s kitchen action will complement the overhaul taking place at The Basement.
Food is served before your stomach starts to rumble, but be prepared for a mix of table and counter service (depending on whether you’ve made a reservation).
Think fresh, fun and a little bit left-of-centre for music, meals and mayhem-filled nights.
