If you have a nose for a good drop, it’s of no surprise that you’ve sniffed out the biggest outdoor wine event staged in Sydney.
This Sunday’s Good Living Sydney Cellar Door aims to show the diversity of NSW Wine and encourage wine lovers to support the Waratah Sate. Whether a Chardonnay enthusiast or Shiraz devotee, here you can expect 100 winery stalls to visit, 30 more selling provisions to keep your stomach lined, and live entertainment; all conveniently within the confines of Hyde Park South.
No need for angst if you’ve already made Sunday plans. You can still dine with wine throughout the rest of NSW Wine Week (9-15 March). 38 restaurants featured in The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide will offer a special meal for lunch and dinner matched with a glass of premium NSW wine for under $50.
Or for the definitive top up you can visit five of Sydney’s leading hatted restaurants hosting unique Tour of the Regions dinner experiences. Each of their host chefs will team with a top regional chef to craft a special six course degustation menu matched to 13 of NSW’s best wines. At Restaurant Balzac you’ll hear a story about a pair of young gun chefs with British/French training, experience and food styles. Sailors Thai’s ‘Wine with Spice, twice’ will tell tales by creators of some of the most innovative Asian Australian food in the country.
You might not know that NSW produces more than a third of Australia’s wine, is home to Australia’s oldest wine region (Hunter Valley), and the newest (New England), declared an official wine region in only January this year. Facts aside, a week of wine we think, is a wonderful idea.
