Words strung together can cut, conjure, convey and communicate. They can make you hate, love and understand. It’s only suitable that there’s a gathering to celebrate their influence, which makes Night Words’ triple bill the talk of the town.
More than 20 spoken word artists will be waxing lyrical about politics, climate change, relationships, and anything else really that comes up during live session.
You can witness live poetry, hip-hop, lyrics, monologues and music from veterans like Tug Dumbly, Edwina Blush, Ghost Boy, Emily Zoe Baker and Bravo.
Curator Miles Merrill, expert flinger of words in rapid fire and champion of the NSW Poetry Slam hosts three diverse evenings.
March 6: Night Words House Party
Slurp verbs, chew nouns, dance to bouncing verse: it’s a party of poetry and lyrics with Entropic performing live.
March 7: Legends of the Word
Tour Sydney’s back lanes and meet the stars of the local spoken word underground scene. Expect a sampling of beats, live performance and images to take you from the 1960’s beginnings to slamming today.
March 8: Slamarama
You be the judge as 12 of Australia’s word heavies form three teams battle it out to the untamed sounds of Waiting for Guinness.
