Bassike launches Melbourne store

Fans of all things fashionable: save the date. You wouldn’t want to miss the opening of this new store to Melbourne’s Hawksburn precinct. It’s bassike. And for the first time since the label’s creation, Melburnians will have the entire collection at their fashion forward fingertips.

For business owners Deborah Sams and Melbourne native Mary-Lou Ryan, it’s an absolute milestone – a measure of their success in the world of men and women’s ready-to-wear. There’s eye-wear too – acetate and titanium Japanese-made frames that make the vision of classic style crystal clear.

Overall, the store’s make-up is woven from a mix of locally-produced garments, combined with international edge. Japanese denim? Yes. Add to that a range that includes leather, tailoring, organic cotton jersey and bassike’s premium line of international labels including Repetto, Giorgio Brato, Maiami Basic, Petite Grand, and eyewear from Dries Van Noten, Linda Farrow and The Row.

The space itself is as beautiful as the clothes. It was designed by architect Kelvin Ho and takes over the entire ground floor of the corner block on Malvern and Mathoura Roads – the new hub for traffic-stopping looks.

With room to adapt the store to reflect Melbourne’s definite seasons, expect fresh collections, installations and events.
