They say once you go black, you never go back – and this certainly rings true for The Star’s newest resident, BLACK by ezard.
Leading the BLACK pack is internationally acclaimed chef Teage Ezard, better known by Melbournians as the mastermind behind ezard (two hats) and Gingerboy.
Distinctly New York in its appeal, the meticulous interior is comfortably suave. Sophistication oozes from every dark timber cornice and leather-bound seam; and the killer views of the Harbour aren’t bad either.
You’ll be wowed by the full wrap-around wine wall that shows off the hundreds of great American drops (hello Napa Valley!) – many of which have been sourced exclusively for BLACK.
And the food – where to begin? How about with the imported Hawaiian ocean water found 300 feet at the bottom of the Pacific and untouched by UV (to sous vide the seafood and steaks), or the rare black lava salt that accompanies warm house-made brioche on arrival.
There’s a strong focus around the kitchen’s impressive wood-burning grill which makes way for some of Oz’s best seafood and meat including some seriously serious wagyu. Carnivores eat your heart out!
And be sure to go to town on the sides – knock yourself out with some rosemary salted hand-cut chips and parsnip fritters with turmeric caramel and coconut.
Once you go BLACK, you never go back.
