Neutral bay just got a little cooler with the addition of SoCal, a new Californian inspired restaurant-bar that’s got chins north of the bridge wagging.
Introduced by the same crew behind Bondi Hardware and The Botanist, and styled by the same mastermind responsible for Momofuku and Ananas, you can bet your bottom dollar SoCal will deliver.
Bright colours and fun furnishings meet a leafy open-air terrace perfect for long summer afternoons. Behind the bar, bartenders are mixing quality cocktails like Tommy’s Margarita; El Jimador Reposado mixed with fresh lime and Agave nectar.
As far as the food goes, the menu is Mexican with plenty of seafood options and Cali-inspired share plates, taco’s, mini dogs and ceviches. Standouts include Hawaiian tuna poke on corn tostada; Crab and sopressada empanadas; and refried bean and rice quesadilla.
A 2am licence means you can kick on for as long as the tequila keeps you going. And if that fails, order the churros with chocolate dipping sauce – the sugar high will serve you well.
